The kids of Kathmandu 2012 trips

A few times a year we travel to Nepal to help the children of an orphanage in Kathmandu.
The children in this particular orphanage are not lucky enough to have government funding. As it turns out that most of the 900,000 orphans in the area have no help from the government whatsoever, they can only rely on donations given by some of the local community, and in a 3rd world country that does not amount to much.
So we do what little we can to help these kids. Small things such as shoes, school books, school uniforms, and personal items are some of the things we like to give.
It is unfortunate that Nepali customs does not allow these items to enter the county free of scam tax and duties, so we normally just buy things locally or have things made.
The bigger items such as building materials we can only purchase when the timing is right for us, but we do what we can.

My wife and I do not ask for donations as we do this as a labour of love and know its a good thing. But for the children we will never turn away someone that might want to help. For those who do I usually email photos and things of that nature but now I will have this Blog to post all the good things people do for our RED's adventures.

RED .. ready to see the kids again

RED seems to have his own channel now.. lol

Out buying the basics at a local shop

We would like to thank the people who helped out on this trip with either their monetary donation or clothing as well as wishing us well with their hearts.
Ilse, Jean and Rob (and their friends) as well as the Qatar Airways crew that flew us in that day. You all made so much of this possible.
